Buddhist monks demand end to Christian religious worship activities

Around 04 Buddhist monks and 20 villagers stood outside the place of worship at approximately 12:30 p.m., soon after the Sunday service had concluded. The Buddhist monks demanded the pastor stop his religious worship activities in the village and threatened the Christians with assault if they continued their services. The villagers further shouted in obscene language and hurled death threats at the Christians. At around 03 p.m., the pastor, along with 02 congregants, went to the Ambalangoda Police Station to lodge a police complaint, bearing number CIB (1) 399/103.
